SA Cricket Awards live on TV
For the first time ever, the SA Cricket Awards Gala Dinner, to be held on Tuesday night in Sandton, will be broadcast live on television, Cricket South Africa (CSA) CEO Gerald Majola announced on Monday.
SuperSport will produce and broadcast the glittering awards dinner hosted by CSA in association with its top three sponsors, Standard Bank, Castle and MTN.
Gerald Majola,CSA CEO, said: “This SA Cricket Awards Gala Dinner marks a golden era in the history of South African cricket.
“Led from the front by Graeme Smith, the Proteas have successfully travelled an epic journey to most parts of the cricketing world over the past season.
“Through SuperSport, these achievements were brought live into the homes of our nation for which we are most grateful. And once again SuperSport will be there to pioneer a live broadcast of the accolades to be showered on these deserving heroes on Tuesday night.”
SuperSport CEO, Imtiaz Patel: “SuperSport is delighted to broadcast this event live and exclusively.”
“It’s been a magnificent year both for cricket and for SuperSport , if you consider that in recent months alone we’ve had the tour by Australia, the Indian Premier League and the ICC Twenty 20 World Cup.
“We’re thrilled to have broadcast so many great cricketing moments in the past few months. Covering the gala awards dinner, where CSA can reflect on its outstanding year, is yet another sign of SuperSport’s dynamic and loyal partnership with Cricket SA.”
Cricket South Africa has set aside Tuesday to celebrate CSA and the Proteas’ most successful year ever. The day kicks off with the 2009 SA Cricket Awards Breakfast in association with Bakers, held to honour the stars of amateur cricket. The highlight of the breakfast, which will also be attended by Graeme Smith and his Proteas team, will be the unveiling of the first-ever Khaya Majola Lifetime Achievement award winner. Highlights from the Awards Breakfast will be included in the evening’s live TV broadcast.
Shortly after the Awards Breakfast, CSA’s main commercial partners, members of the media and celebrities get an opportunity to play a round of golf with the Proteas at Johannesburg Country Club, Woodmead.
Honouring the stars of professional cricket, the 2009 SA Cricket Awards Gala Dinner gets underway at 7:30pm, and will be hosted by radio personalities, Gareth Cliff and Unathi Nkayi.
