Castle Test Cricket: Build up to second test

castletestcricket South African cricket coach Mickey Aurther said that their success in the second test will come from a more disciplined bowling performance.

The Proteas will be targeting the inexperienced batsmen in the Australian side, Philip Hugues and Marcus North. The Proteas feel that they have ‘worked out’ the two batsmen and feel they can attack them successfully.

There is some speculation about the use of a spin bowler, the pitch in Durban should help the spinner and with the chance of cloud cover and a tinge of green on the wicket it seems that the bowlers are going to have some fun.

The second Castle Larger Test match starts of Friday, at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead, Durban.

  1. Second test. 7 March 2009. What a day for SA Protea’s coaches, technical and tactical staff. Go creep into your holes!!!! Do they not pay attention to what the Aussies are doing? In the first test the SA wickets tumbled one after the other due to aggressive, AIMED AT THE BATTER’S RIB CAGE bowling by medium pacers!! The MCC trained their bowlers to do just that many years ago and harrassed batsmen to no end. The Aussies are forcing the batter to play and that is what you want. That is called attacking and that is what is expected when you bowl – attack! What do we (SA) do? Bowl in such a way that we hope the Aussie batsman will play at the ball wide outside off stump and get opportunistic wickets here and there – hopefully. No pressure on the Aussies whatsoever!!! Nice guys – these Protea bowlers. Playing defensive cricket when they need to attack. Smith broke finger when trying to get away from a ball coming for his ribs, Kallis tried to protect his ribs as well. Come on guys, wake up!!! Play on the edge of the rules. Losing is not a problem, but this is absolutely embarrasing!! There is no sting in the SA side at the moment. Have the Aussies already won psychologically?
