about
It’s no secret what this blog is about, it’s all about cricket played in South Africa, the players, their opponents, the pitches they play on and the statistics they achieve. The inspiration to start the blog came in the early hours of the morning, when the Proteas were handing out Test cricket lessons to Australia in Melbourne in 2008. I was on holiday at the time in Cape Town, I thought that my opinion counted, and so started sharing it.
Over the years I’ve used social media which has helped me meet a few people who have helped with the blog, having an uber successful girlfriend who works in the online industry has been a blessing, she’s managed to put me in contact with the right people at the right time. I’ve been invited to write on the Standard Bank Cricket blog, and have enjoyed a great relationship with them, I’ve also helped them out with live coverage of Pro20 games on Twitter.
I’ve received a nomination or two in the SA Blog Awards which has been awesome, but I just can’t seem to beat the ‘professional’ blogs and sports journalists….
I recently attended the CSA Awards dinner, which was a fantastic experience, as a blogger it’s difficult to gain access to the inner circles and players that sports journalists enjoy. I hope I can pave the way, and open a few minds to the power of fresh honest opinions that bloggers bring to the game of cricket.
Like the Pakistan cricket players, I’m open to a bribe every now and then, so if you’d like to promote a cricket event that’s relevant to cricket is South Africa let me know and I’ll share it with my readers.
See you at the cricket.
